Raising Your Standards: Unlocking Your Next Level of Faith and Breakthrough




There’s a shift happening—can you feel it?

God is calling His people higher—to let go of old mindsets, break free from limiting beliefs, and boldly step into the life He designed for them. But here’s a truth that many overlook:


You will never rise higher than the standards you set for yourself.

The Power of Raising Your Standards

Let me share a quick story.

A professor once held up a glass of water and asked, “How heavy is this?” The answer wasn’t in the weight but in how long she held it.

  • A few seconds? No problem.

  • A few hours? Her arm ached.

  • A whole day? She became numb and paralyzed.

This is exactly what happens when we hold onto worries, regrets, and fears. The longer we grip them, the heavier they become—until we’re spiritually stuck.


But God gives us a command:

“Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

It’s time to release what’s been weighing you down and step into a new level of faith, freedom, and purpose. How? By intentionally raising your standards in every area of life.

5 Spirit-Led Keys to Raising Your Standards

1. Get Serious About Your Calling

God placed dreams, assignments, and divine purpose inside you, but treating them as optional keeps you from seeing the fullness of His plans.


Faith Action Step: Identify one area of your life where you’ve been casual instead of committed. Ask God for clarity, write down your next step, and take action this week.


Key Scripture: “Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

2. Get a Schedule That Honors God’s Plan

Your time is your life. If you don’t manage your time, you won’t fulfill your purpose. Even Jesus withdrew to pray and had intentional time alone with the Father (Luke 5:16).


Faith Action Step: Set a “God Appointment” in your calendar—15-30 minutes daily to seek His presence, pray, and listen. Guard this time as the most important meeting of your day.


Key Scripture: “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

3. Get Mentors Who Stretch Your Faith

If you want to grow, you must learn from those ahead of you. Even Jesus surrounded Himself with disciples and poured wisdom into them.


Faith Action Step: Identify a mentor—someone you admire spiritually, professionally, or personally. Read their books, listen to their teachings, or seek their mentorship.


Key Scripture: “Walk with the wise and become wise.” (Proverbs 13:20)

4. Get Invested in Others

One of the quickest ways to grow is to serve others. When you shift your focus from self-consciousness to generosity, confidence and purpose follow.


Faith Action Step: Find a way to give—through mentoring, serving, encouraging someone, or supporting a ministry that aligns with God’s heart.


Key Scripture: “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25)

5. Get Moving—Take Immediate Action

Delayed obedience is disobedience. When God speaks, move! Your breakthrough is on the other side of your obedience.


Faith Action Step: Ask yourself: What has God already told me to do that I’ve been hesitating on? Decide today to take the first step—no matter how small.


Key Scripture: “Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:26)
