Biblical Example: Elisha’s Faithful “Yes”

Look at Elisha in the Bible.

In 1 Kings 19, Elisha receives his calling when Elijah throws his cloak over him. He immediately burns his plow and oxen—symbolizing his complete surrender to God’s will—and follows Elijah.

But what happens next?

He doesn’t immediately step into a platform.He doesn’t start working miracles.He doesn’t walk in power overnight.

Instead, Elisha goes through a season of service, humility, and hiddenness.

“Elisha… used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”— 2 Kings 3:11

His behind-the-scenes obedience and unseen faithfulness prepared him for the double portion anointing he later received.
